A nomination for the Tarkine to be included on Australia's National Heritage list was lodged with Senator Ian Campbell in 2004. As yet there has been no decision made by the minister on this vital nomination. Please call or write to the Minister to urge him to support this nomination.

A nomination for National Park status for the Tarkine was lodged with both the Federal and State Governments in 2004. The Tarkine will continue to be at risk from the mining industry until it achieves national park staus. Speak or write to Tasmanian State politicians about the need for National Park status for the Tarkine.

is that it?

No, the Tarkine is not saved! Nearly 30, 000 hectares of the Tarkine's old growth forests continue to be logged, while the mining industry, cattle grazing and careless 4WD vehicles all threaten the Tarkine's values.

LESS THAN 5% OF THE TARKINE HAS FULL PROTECTION IN NATIONAL PARK!
